After decades of dedicated service to AMCC and Alaska’s fishing communities,Theresa Peterson is turning the page to a new adventure. Her advocacy, deep commitment, and joyful support on behalf of our coastal communities has been a steady presence. We are beyond grateful for her work and partnership. She’ll be moving on from AMCC this July, so be sure to celebrate her legacy in the months to come. Thank you Theresa!

A personal note from Theresa Peterson:
After 21 years with the Alaska Marine Conservation Council, the time has come for me to say goodbye and begin a new chapter. I’m moving on with deep gratitude for the opportunity to support our ocean home and a sense of excitement for what’s next.
When I first joined AMCC, I was driven by a passion for protecting our oceans and the many people who depend on healthy oceans for their livelihoods. This passion has only grown stronger with every campaign, challenge, and success. What I didn’t anticipate was the incredible community I would find: dedicated colleagues, inspiring partners, and supporters like you who never wavered in your commitment to marine conservation.
Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of working on projects that have made a real difference — from chinook and halibut bycatch reductions in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands to set-asides in Gulf of Alaska jig fisheries to support entry-level opportunities. I’ve watched this organization grow in impact, reach, and resilience. And I’ve grown with it, both professionally and personally.
As I step away from my role, I am immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together. I am confident that AMCC's mission will continue and that the fight for a healthier, more sustainable ocean will continue.
To all of you who have been part of this journey: thank you. Your support, your passion, and your belief in this work have meant the world to me.
This isn’t goodbye to the cause — just a new direction. I look forward to staying connected and cheering on the next generation of marine champions.
