Thank you to everyone who shared photos for AMCC’s second annual photo contest, “Our Waters, Our Home.”  We loved seeing all the photos you captured and submitted that highlighted Alaska’s waters and the people who call them home.

The contest launched on September 1st  with a call for original photos that reflect life on the water here in Alaska. Entrants could submit to one of five categories: Fishing Families, On Deck, Closure Candids, Protect What You Love, and Tools of the Trade.

From back decks and beach camps to moments of harvest and heritage, the response was incredible—and we’re excited to share this year’s winning photos.

The winners are…

Closure Candids: Frida Renner

Crewmember on the phone in the skiff 2026

Fishing Families: Nancy Deschu

Fishing Friends and Family Pull Together, Raspberry Island, Onion Bay

On Deck: Joe Emerson

Nettle Hart lands nice Chinook off Yakobi Island, SE Alaska

Protect What You Love: Michelle Meyers-Garcia

Tools of the Trade: Kelsi Ivanoff

Honorable Mentions

We also want to give thanks to the many stunning entries that didn’t take home top prizes but will be featured throughout the year in AMCC’s outreach materials, online platforms, and printed publications. Every photo submitted contributes to the larger picture of why Alaska’s community-based fisheries matter—and what we’re working to protect.
