Announcing the Winners of AMCC’s 1st Annual Photo Contest: "Boots on Deck"

Updated: May 21

Posted on May 19, 2025

Thank you to everyone who shared a glimpse into life on the water for AMCC’s first-ever photo contest, Boots on Deck. We loved seeing the people, places, and everyday moments that make Alaska’s fishing communities so unique.

The contest launched this spring with a call for original photos that reflect the heart of our working waterfronts. Entrants could submit to one of four categories: Generations at Work, On Deck, Closure Candids and Protect What You Love. We also included a Staff Favorite to spotlight one image that stood out to our team. From back decks and beach camps to moments of harvest and heritage, the response was incredible—and we’re excited to share this year’s winning photos.

🎉 And the winners are...

Honorable Mentions

We also want to give a shoutout to the many stunning entries that didn’t take home top prizes but will be featured throughout the year in AMCC’s outreach materials, online platforms, and printed publications. Every photo submitted contributes to the larger picture of why Alaska’s community-based fisheries matter—and what we’re working to protect.

Keep the Camera Rolling

As the summer fishing season ramps up, don’t forget to keep your camera (or phone) close! We’ll be back next year, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll share from the water, the beach, and beyond!
