Jamie O'Connor
Deputy Executive Director
Jamie is a dedicated advocate for Alaska’s working waterfronts, bringing over two decades of experience in marine policy, communications, and commercial fisheries. As AMCC’s Deputy Executive Director, she works to strengthen coastal community resilience, promote equity in fisheries, advance food security, and elevate the voices of fishermen and stakeholders in policy decisions.
Prior to this role, Jamie founded and led Intertidal Consulting, where she advised on fisheries policy, community resilience, and strategic communications. She previously served as the director of AMCC’s Working Waterfronts program and represented conservation and fishing communities on the North Pacific Fishery Management Council Advisory Panel. Her experience also includes leading fisheries and ocean policy efforts for U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski’s “Team Ocean” and serving as Senator Dan Sullivan’s first Washington, D.C. staff assistant and internship coordinator.
Raised in Dillingham, Alaska, on the traditional lands of the Yup’ik people, Jamie is a fifth-generation salmon harvester who fishes with her family each summer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communication from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Master of Science with Distinction in Marine Systems and Policies from the University of Edinburgh.
