Get involved! This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard in the fisheries management process!


Two Alaskan members of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC), Sam Cotten of Eagle River and Duncan Fields of Kodiak, will see their three-year terms expire in August. Both members are seeking to serve another term. In addition, eight other potential members have submitted their names to fill these seats on the Council.

The following people have submitted their names to date:

Duncan Fields, a Kodiak commercial fisherman.
Sam Cotten, a commercial fisherman from Eagle River.
Mike Heimbuch, a Homer commercial fisherman.
Matt Moir, Kodiak resident and manager of Alaska Pacific Seafoods in Koidak.
Donald Poulos, an Anchorage resident and former commercial fisherman out of Kodiak and Chignik.
Michael Robbins, an Anchorage attorney.
Dick Tremain, an Anchorage resident and asset manager for Norton Sound Economic Development Corp.
James Merriner, of Anchorage.
Jeff Stephan, a Kodiak fleet lobbyist and former Advisory Panel member.
Stan Swetzof, of North Pole.

You can make you voice heard in the decision of who will fill these two seats by writing to Governor Parnell and letting him know who you think will best serve the interests of Alaskans.

Letters should be sent no later than Monday March 15th.
